Training

Groups of 6-12 doctors meet regularly with an accredited IPM leader —either on a fortnightly or monthly basis. Doctors discuss real clinical cases they have encountered in the course of their work. A deeper understanding of the problem is realised by:

  • Studying the doctor-patient relationship
  • Use of physical examination

The best way to experience this way of learning is to join a basic seminar group. Further details are contained within the prospectus . New basic seminar groups start regularly at several sites in the UK. The IPM can also set up a local group if a number of doctors are interested in training.

“IPM training helped me become more sensitive to the many “clues”in the doctor/patient relationship that I had previously missed or felt unimportant”
SCMO in Sexual Health.

Opportunity to gain further qualifications

  • Diploma of the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine —eligible to be taken after a period of basic training.
  • Membership of the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine —a specialist qualification after a further period of training in an advanced seminar group.

The IPM hosts regular educational events —the Autumn Clinical meeting.
